The Apple Service Engineering (ASE) Compute team is seeking a software engineer to develop and manage tooling for internal cloud compute platforms. This role focuses on platform qualification and test automation, ensuring that hardware and software releases are fit for production. The engineer will collaborate with various teams to define release pipelines and automate qualification processes. The position emphasizes creativity and problem-solving in a fast-paced environment.

• Demonstrated ability to design, debug, and test complex software systems.
• 3+ years of experience in related software development or comparable academic experience.
• Experience designing and building CI/CD systems, build/release pipelines, or developer tooling used by other engineering teams.
• Experience with test automation at scale, including designing test frameworks and managing test infrastructure.
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent related experience.
• Strong fundamentals of distributed systems and operating systems.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience qualifying or releasing software against multiple CPU architectures.
• Experience with hardware bring-up or qualification programs.
• Experience with virtualized and containerized runtime environments.
• Proficiency in Go and/or Python.

• Own and develop the platform qualification and test automation service end to end.
• Design CI/CD and release engineering for systems that support multiple compute platforms.
• Drive software qualification for hardware and software releases, including new server generations.
• Write and review code, and generate design documentation.
• Work on scalability, resilience, security, efficiency, and performance limits of infrastructure services.
• Participate in on-call rotation and partner with the SRE team to resolve production issues.
• Collaborate with hardware/software engineering and OS teams to automate qualification processes.
