The Senior Software Development Engineer will be part of the Amazon OpenSearch Service team, focusing on designing, developing, and supporting a world-class search platform. This role involves tackling complex problems in distributed systems, AI, and data analytics while contributing to open-source software. The team is looking for innovative engineers who can lead architecture decisions and mentor others. • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 5+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language
• 5+ years of experience leading design or architecture of new and existing systems
• Experience as a mentor or tech lead for an engineering team
• 5+ years of experience in the full software development life cycle
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

• Design, develop, and support a world-class search platform serving customers of all sizes
• Produce robust, efficient, and maintainable code primarily in Java and Python
• Work on OpenSearch open-source software with opportunities to contribute upstream
• Lead architecture and design decisions and mentor other engineers on the team
• Challenge existing systems and explore changes to meet evolving customer needs
• Drive algorithm and architecture design and deliver results
