Job description

Netflix is seeking distributed systems and software engineers to enhance core backend systems that impact various services including API platform, messaging, and payments. The role involves solving complex problems and contributing to scalable, highly-available distributed systems. Engineers will work independently throughout the development lifecycle, from requirements gathering to production launch. This position offers a unique opportunity to merge creativity with cutting-edge technology in a dynamic environment.

Requirements

  • You are skilled in object-oriented programming and take pride in crafting efficient, maintainable, and testable code.
  • You have a solid foundation in computer science and software development concepts.
  • You have exposure to the development, debugging, testing, and operation of APIs, distributed systems, and cloud-based services.
  • You communicate clearly in written and verbal form.
  • You are self-driven, prioritize effectively, and focus on impact.

Responsibilities

  • Apply software development skills to solve complex problems with real-world impact.
  • Drive features or components throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Identify requirements and launch features in production.
  • Contribute to the development of scalable and highly-available distributed systems.

Benefits

  • Employees at Netflix are often offered flexible, people-first benefits—unlimited time away, generous parental leave, global family-forming support, mental-health programs (mindfulness, free counseling/coaching), and health coverage tailored by country. Financially, Netflix pays at personal top-of-market and lets employees choose their mix of cash vs. fully-vested 10-year stock options, alongside donation and volunteer matching. Convenience perks can include trust-based travel/expense policies, relocation support, and “Work, Not Drive” rideshare flexibility.
