Job description
The Principal Data Engineer at Apple will lead the development of a real-time platform that processes multimodal data into an intelligent, searchable foundation. This role requires deep expertise in data engineering, including ETL/ELT processes and data architecture. The engineer will collaborate with various business groups to ensure strategic alignment across the organization. This position is critical for driving decisions and operations within the data processing systems.
Requirements
- Masters Degree in a relevant field.
- 12+ years of experience in data engineering, including building and maintaining large-scale ETL/ELT data pipelines.
- Proficiency in data modeling, especially dimensional modeling, and designing schemas optimized for analytics and reporting.
- Strong experience with distributed data processing frameworks including Apache Spark.
- Experience with AWS services such as S3, EMR, Lambda, Glue, Redshift, and Kinesis.
- Hands-on experience with big data lake architectures.
- Experience in Python and PySpark.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, build, and operations of data processing systems.
- Coordinate and sync strategically with other business groups within Apple.
- Drive critical decisions across the entire data processing system.
- Build pipelines that process multimodal data and integrate ML model inference.
- Deploy, serve, and optimize LLMs or ML models in production environments.
- Ensure compliance with data governance principles and data privacy regulations.
- Deliver consumer-oriented solutions by participating in all stages of the development life-cycle.
