·FY 2025Job description
The Senior/Staff AI Software Engineer role at Netflix focuses on enhancing developer productivity for the AI for Member Systems (AIMS) team. This position involves owning the end-to-end developer experience, including build and test infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and tooling for ML researchers and engineers. The role requires identifying and removing friction in engineering workflows while designing and operating large-scale systems. It is a high-leverage position that impacts multiple teams across the organization.
Requirements
- Significant experience building and operating developer productivity infrastructure at scale.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals with deep proficiency in Python and working proficiency in at least one JVM language.
- Hands-on experience with distributed build systems and large-scale distributed data/compute frameworks.
- Working understanding of GenAI-powered developer tooling and hands-on experience using these tools effectively.
- Comfort with parallel and distributed computing and experience operating systems at scale.
Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end developer experience for AIMS ML practitioners.
- Identify friction in day-to-day engineering and research workflows and design tooling to remove it.
- Design, build, and operate large-scale build and CI/CD systems.
- Partner directly with ML researchers and engineers to understand workflows and prioritize productivity investments.
- Build and maintain internal developer platforms and self-service tooling.
Benefits
- Employees at Netflix are often offered flexible, people-first benefits—unlimited time away, generous parental leave, global family-forming support, mental-health programs (mindfulness, free counseling/coaching), and health coverage tailored by country. Financially, Netflix pays at personal top-of-market and lets employees choose their mix of cash vs. fully-vested 10-year stock options, alongside donation and volunteer matching. Convenience perks can include trust-based travel/expense policies, relocation support, and “Work, Not Drive” rideshare flexibility.
