Job description

The Industrial Design Engineer (IDE) at Amazon will lead the design and deployment of innovative material handling systems across various fulfillment centers. This role requires collaboration with internal and external technical teams to solve complex problems and implement groundbreaking solutions. The IDE will manage multiple high-visibility programs while ensuring alignment with business goals and technical requirements. The position is part of the Material Handling Equipment Lifecycle Management Team, which focuses on quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or above in engineering or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of project management experience including scope, schedule, budget, and quality management.
  • Strong technical background in automated or non-automated material handling equipment.
  • Experience using Lean Process Improvement and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple large, complex programs through the development and deployment lifecycle.
  • Define program/project scope and technical/business requirements for engineering teams.
  • Evaluate solutions and make decisions balancing business value and technology risk.
  • Build strong relationships with Fulfillment Center leadership and operations teams.
  • Communicate and present program status to Directors of Engineering and Operations.
