The Senior Mechanical Project Engineer will lead the mechanical design of automated fulfillment center projects at Amazon. This role involves overseeing complex projects and managing cross-functional engineering teams from concept to completion. The engineer will be responsible for making strategic decisions, coordinating with stakeholders, and ensuring seamless integration with other building systems. This position is crucial for transforming the future of Amazon's logistics network.

• 5+ years of design and innovation, research and development work experience
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a foreign equivalent
• Experience in management of engineering design projects
• Experience using business or technical software like MS Excel, MS Project, and CAD software
• Master's degree in Engineering, Operations, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred
• Knowledge of system architecture, optimization, and statistical analysis
• Experience with complex automated material handling equipment and design-in-safety

• Oversee and direct comprehensive layouts for multiple automated material handling system projects
• Lead the selection and specification of conveyor types and third-party equipment across projects
• Manage coordination with electrical, controls, and structural engineering teams for cohesive designs
• Develop and manage mechanical engineering project plans, schedules, and deliverables
• Maintain excellent communication with on-site construction teams, clients, and senior leadership
• Directly manage and mentor junior engineers, providing guidance on technical challenges
• Ensure all mechanical designs meet safety, regulatory, and performance standards
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the engineering organization
• Oversee installation and commissioning activities across multiple projects
