Job description
The Network Development Engineer role within the Backbone Enterprise and Regional Engineering team at AWS focuses on ensuring the stability and sustainability of next-generation IP networks. This position involves collaborating with various teams to deploy and sustain networking software tools while maintaining high standards for safety and security. The team is responsible for the design, implementation, and operation of networking infrastructure that supports global connectivity for AWS. Candidates will work in a dynamic environment, addressing complex networking challenges and contributing to the efficiency of data centers.
Requirements
- 4+ years of major internet routing protocols experience
- 4+ years of working in a Linux/Unix environment experience
- 4+ years of automation scripting using Python, Bash, Shell and/or Perl experience
- Thorough understanding of TCP/IP networking, IP routing, Server Load Balancing, and Network Security architecture
- Experience with routers, server load balancers, and firewall vendor platforms such as Cisco, Juniper, and Palo Alto
Responsibilities
- Perform high quality network and/or systems operations, deployments, and scaling.
- Lead network projects in areas such as network sustaining engineering and network optimization.
- Sustain AWS's next generation networks by providing critical network support.
- Operate and troubleshoot network routing, interconnectivity, and performance issues.
- Partner with the broader Network/Infrastructure organization on configurations standards and tools.
- Create and review documentation regarding network implementation and deployments.
