The role involves working with the Electric Machine Mechanical Design team at Rivian to develop electric motor components for their Electric Adventure Vehicles. The focus is on designing test setups and assembly tooling for both current and future products. Candidates will collaborate closely with engineering teams and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of high-quality components. • 5+ years of experience working in a fast-paced environment on the mechanical design of complex components.
• Formal education in mechanical engineering or a similar discipline; a B.S. is the minimum requirement.
• Proficiency with major 3D CAD software packages, with CATIA V6 experience preferred.
• Professional experience with applying GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and conducting stack-up analyses.
• Ability to perform structural hand-calculations and FEA studies.
• Knowledge of rapid prototyping, high-volume manufacturing processes, and materials selection.

• Work closely with the Engineering Team to lead the design and fabrication of complex test setups and prototype assembly tooling.
• Utilize CATIA V6 for detailed 3D part generation and 2D drawing layout.
• Conduct stack-up analyses for parts and mating interfaces to inform GD&T and manufacturing requirements.
• Lead root cause analysis studies to identify issue origins and determine appropriate containment actions.
• Develop timelines for design, detailing, fabrication, assembly, and preparation for test systems and tooling.
• Collaborate and manage suppliers to ensure the delivery of parts on-time and to-spec.
