Job description

The AWM Mutual Fund Controllers team at Goldman Sachs is responsible for managing the accounting, finance, and treasury functions of various SEC registered investment companies, including mutual funds and ETFs. This role involves overseeing financial reporting processes, establishing accounting policies, and ensuring the accuracy of fund valuations. The team also collaborates with multiple departments to support new product development and monitor financial controls. Candidates will engage in strategic process changes and utilize analytical tools to enhance capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the financial reporting process with external legal counsel, auditors, and funds’ accounting agents.
  • Establish all accounting policies and perform financial statement analysis, including knowledge of US GAAP/IFRS.
  • Establish and monitor financial control framework, both internally and that of the funds’ external accounting agents.
  • Conduct large scale analytical procedures on various fund metrics necessary for sales and marketing materials.
  • Ensure accuracy of Fund’ Net Asset Values via control governance of external accounting agents.
  • Oversee and coordinate funds’ major treasury functions.
  • Analyze funds’ dividends and provide insights on factors affecting these amounts.
  • Assist with setting fund fees in accordance with the firm’s pricing philosophy for Registration Statements.
  • Prepare written materials for Board of Trustees and senior management on a recurring and ad-hoc basis.
  • Drive strategic process change and new/enhanced capabilities by partnering with Technology.
  • Liaise with several groups including portfolio management, tax, legal, and sales on new product development.
