The AWS Inside Plant Design and Engineering Team is seeking a member to develop capacity management solutions for the physical layer within AWS data centers and edge sites. This innovative team focuses on rethinking the design of critical hardware connections. The role involves collaboration with engineers, managers, and industry suppliers to enhance infrastructure quality and efficiency. Candidates will have the opportunity to leverage their engineering experience in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
Requirements
- 5+ years of construction or project management experience
- 2+ years of IT experience or experience with cabling infrastructure best practices and methodologies
- Experience in Data Center Engineering Operations with a deep understanding of electrical and mechanical data center infrastructure
- Knowledge of critical data center equipment and engineering documentation
- Familiarity with building codes and regulations including Life Safety, BOCA, NFPA, NEC, or OSHA
Responsibilities
- Ensure timely delivery of scalable fiber optic and copper plant designs
- Develop an automated solution for routing and utilizing the physical layer
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to deliver designs that meet capacity and network requirements
- Identify and respond to risks and high-priority issues rapidly and effectively
- Support New Product Introduction activities that improve infrastructure quality and reduce costs
- Travel 20+% to review projects and coordinate with onsite personnel and contractors
