Job description

The Sr. Compliance Engineer at AWS Global Trade and Product Compliance (GTPC) will lead safety engineering efforts for data center infrastructure. This role involves managing the safety compliance lifecycle for AWS hardware, ensuring adherence to safety standards across various technologies. The engineer will collaborate with product development teams and external partners to deliver compliant products efficiently. The position is critical for influencing design decisions and maintaining compliance as AWS continues to grow.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in supporting NPI/NPD design related to product compliance, primarily safety.
  • Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans, and functional test procedures.
  • Experience must include ITE and/or Data Center power and cooling equipment categories.
  • Master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent.
  • Experience with National Electrical Code.
  • Experience with data centers AHJ permitting process.

Responsibilities

  • Own safety compliance strategy for new product introduction and sustaining programs.
  • Partner with hardware development teams during design reviews to identify safety risks and recommend design modifications.
  • Serve as the primary technical interface with Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories and Notified Bodies.
  • Perform root cause analysis and define corrective actions with ODM design partners.
  • Build and maintain a scalable compliance framework including templates and process documentation.
  • Develop and track metrics that provide visibility into certification pipeline health and risk areas.
  • Stay current on evolving global safety regulations and assess their impact on AWS's product roadmap.
