As a Hardware Development Engineer within the Velocity team at Amazon, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and delivering mechanical components and systems for next-generation products. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to turn concepts into manufacturable designs that meet customer needs. You will also conduct engineering analyses and develop test plans to validate designs against product requirements. The position requires mentoring junior engineers and contributing to the continuous improvement of design processes.

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent.
• 8+ years of working in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience.
• Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans, and functional test procedures.
• Experience with prototyping, implementation, and scaling.
• Master's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• Knowledge of SolidWorks simulation or Ansys Finite Element analysis tools.
• Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production.
• Experience with the project management of technical projects.

• Deliver mechanical design projects from concept through production, ensuring designs meet functional requirements, cost targets, and manufacturing constraints.
• Create 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and specifications for mechanical components and assemblies.
• Conduct engineering analyses including tolerance stack-ups, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), and Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
• Develop and execute test plans to validate mechanical designs against product requirements.
• Collaborate with industrial designers, electrical engineers, and manufacturing partners to integrate mechanical designs with other subsystems.
• Identify and resolve technical issues during development and production phases.
• Document design decisions, test results, and engineering changes.
• Support Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) activities.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes.
