Job description

The Electrical Engineer role focuses on designing and building electrical systems for next-generation automation robots. You will work hands-on in an engineering lab, collaborating with mechanical and software engineers to create industrial control panels and integrate various components. The team operates in a multi-disciplinary environment, ensuring that solutions meet customer experience and safety requirements. Your contributions will directly impact Amazon's operational efficiency across fulfillment centers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent
  • 3+ years of experience designing industrial control panels or electrical systems for automated equipment
  • Experience with ECAD tools such as EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical, or SolidWorks Electrical
  • Recent execution of a panel design in EPLAN within the last 5 years
  • Experience designing wiring harnesses and specifying industrial connectors
  • Hands-on experience using oscilloscopes, multimeters, and function generators
  • Familiarity with NEC and UL 508A standards for industrial control panels and NFPA79 standard for industrial machinery
  • Experience supporting equipment commissioning and troubleshooting in production or warehouse environments
  • Experience with industrial communication protocols like EtherNet/IP, EtherCAT, IO-Link, Profinet, and CANOPEN
  • Experience with safety system design including safety PLCs and risk assessment per ISO 13849 or IEC 62443

Responsibilities

  • Design industrial control panels using EPLAN and specify components to meet system requirements
  • Research and evaluate sensors, actuators, motors, and other electrical components for automation systems
  • Perform system-level electrical design and integration with mechanical and software components
  • Create wiring harness designs and electrical documentation for prototype and production systems
  • Build, assemble, and test prototype wiring harnesses and control panels in the lab
  • Conduct electrical validation using standard equipment and iterate based on test results
  • Assist in field deployment and troubleshooting as needed

Benefits

  • Employees at Amazon are often offered comprehensive health benefits—including multiple medical plan options (no pre-existing condition exclusions, 100% covered in-network preventive care), dental and vision plans, a 24/7 medical advice line from day one, expert second-opinion services, and broad mental-health support with several free counseling sessions (including pediatric). Financial wellness typically includes a 401(k) with company match (up to 2%), Restricted Stock Units (equity), FSAs, an emergency savings program, product and partner discounts, and even college-savings and home-purchase programs. Overall, the package is designed to support employees and their families’ health, finances, and day-to-day life.
