The Technologist, Expert Associate Partner role at Bain & Company's Technology Insights Group involves acting as a senior technical advisor for private equity clients and their tech-enabled portfolio companies. This position focuses on conducting technology due diligence and value creation assignments, leveraging extensive expertise in software and technology. The role requires collaboration with global tech leadership and regional consulting teams to evaluate and analyze technology investments. Candidates should be prepared to work in a fast-paced environment and engage with clients on critical technical topics.
Requirements
- A minimum of three days per week working in person at a client location or Bain home office is required.
- Substantial hands-on experience in commercial software engineering and architecture is necessary.
- A practical understanding of the AI technology landscape, including large language models and AI-assisted development tools, is essential.
- Direct experience applying AI across the software development lifecycle is preferred.
- 10+ years of industry experience, including at least 3 years in leadership roles, is required.
- Strong team and business communication skills are necessary.
Responsibilities
- Act as the senior Technologist and a full member of the case leadership team across technology and integrated due diligence engagements.
- Own the technical answer and engage in shaping the executive summary key assumptions and their assessments.
- Validate overall product capability against the investment thesis and assess the impact of technical debt and architecture choices.
- Be the senior technical voice in client calls and management deep dives.
- Shape proposals and approaches to win work by demonstrating technical credibility.
- Demonstrate understanding of software architectures, technology stacks, and AI/ML technologies.
- Apply the investment thesis to the tech due diligence process and make relevant assessments.
- Help develop TIG intellectual property and identify new opportunities for technology due diligence.
- Communicate with and educate colleagues to embed technology know-how across the firm.
- Coach and mentor junior TIG team members.
