Job description
The Senior Lead Manufacturing Engineer for XR at Google will be part of a team focused on developing innovative silicon solutions for consumer products. This role involves collaborating with engineers, designers, and research scientists to create immersive and augmented experiences. The engineer will lead efforts in defining and qualifying manufacturing strategies for head-worn devices, ensuring high-quality production processes. The position emphasizes the integration of AI and XR technologies to enhance user interactions with computing devices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 12 years of experience in the consumer electronics space.
- Master's degree or PhD in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Materials, or a related engineering field is preferred.
- 15 years of experience in Manufacturing, Quality, or Product Engineering for hardware technology and systems.
- Experience with executing designs for precision mechanical systems, including kinematic design and tolerance analyses.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software.
Responsibilities
- Lead the cross-functional effort on the definition, development, and qualification of manufacturing strategies for head-worn devices.
- Partner with manufacturing technology partners in the architecture, design, and qualification of manufacturing processes and equipment.
- Drive design for manufacturability and design for assembly efforts from prototype to mass production.
- Evaluate and develop prospective vendors for process and quality capabilities.
- Develop and standardize design for manufacturability and assembly processes across the Android XR ecosystem.
