Job description

The Senior Protection & Controls (P&C) Engineer role at Jacobs focuses on enhancing safety, reliability, and sustainability in the energy industry. The engineer will work closely with regional and global Transmission & Distribution delivery teams to support utility and developer clients. This position involves developing design deliverables for utility upgrades and interfacing directly with clients on P&C methodologies. The successful candidate will also mentor team members and contribute to the energy transition portfolio.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Advanced Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Power Engineering or related engineering discipline.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) within the United States.
  • At least 10 years of direct protection and controls design experience with utility or consulting organizations.
  • Advanced knowledge of various protection philosophies and relaying functions.
  • Prior experience in development of substation protection and control designs.
  • Familiarity with Relay Settings acSELerator QuickSet Software and CADD platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Interface with utility and developer clients on P&C methodologies.
  • Develop design deliverables for utility upgrades including greenfield/brownfield substations.
  • Mentor and develop team members across North America and globally.
  • Support the sales and proposal preparation process for new contracts.
  • Perform QA/QC of design calculations, construction drawings, and specifications.
  • Conduct field visits and provide engineering support for clients during construction.
