The Sensor System Engineer will join the Machine Vision Systems team at Amazon Robotics, serving as a Subject Matter Expert that connects customers, product strategy, and technical execution. This role focuses on translating real-world customer needs into actionable sensor solutions for robotic platforms. The ideal candidate will engage with customers, define product requirements, and collaborate across various engineering disciplines. The position requires a blend of technical expertise and strong communication skills to ensure alignment on project goals.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related fields
- 5+ years of experience in systems engineering, sensor development, or related technical roles
- Strong understanding of sensor technologies such as imaging, depth sensing, LiDAR, or ToF
- Experience communicating with customers and technical teams to collect requirements and describe product features
- Experience working effectively across cross-functional teams and partnering well with people at all levels within an organization
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related fields is preferred
- Experience in mobile robotics sensing applications including navigation, manipulation, and perception
- Knowledge of key technology and market trends
Responsibilities
- Serve as a primary technical point of contact for internal and external customers.
- Conduct discovery sessions and gather use-case requirements to translate customer needs into technical specifications.
- Partner with product management to define product requirements and prioritize features.
- Contribute to sensor system architecture selections to meet performance and integration requirements.
- Evaluate emerging sensing technologies and benchmark against competitive solutions.
- Identify and communicate technical risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with hardware, firmware, optical, mechanical, electrical, test, and manufacturing teams to ensure cohesive solutions.
