Job description

The Liaison Engineer role at Amazon's Prime Air team focuses on supporting manufacturing and assembly operations for drone production. This position serves as the first line of defense for addressing non-conformances and driving design updates to enhance quality and reduce costs. The engineer will work closely with Design Engineering teams and be embedded within the Assembly and Test organization. The role is critical in bridging production challenges with design improvements for continuous enhancement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
  • 3+ years of demonstrated experience in a Liaison Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, or Material Review Board (MRB) role supporting hardware production
  • Experience developing engineering dispositions for non-conforming hardware
  • Experience with CAD modelling software, such as Solidworks or MATLAB
  • Experience communicating complex information and solutions to senior stakeholders
  • Experience driving Design for Manufacturing (DFM) improvements that resulted in measurable quality or cost improvements
  • Experience with formal root cause and corrective action investigations
  • Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and drawing interpretation
  • Familiarity with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)

Responsibilities

  • Review and disposition non-conformance events related to drone hardware during various production stages
  • Provide real-time engineering support to the Assembly and Test organization on the production floor
  • Develop standard repairs, rework procedures, and propose Design for Manufacturing improvements
  • Partner with Design Engineering teams to translate production findings into actionable design updates
  • Conduct root cause investigations and develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence
  • Develop and maintain disposition templates and analysis methods for common non-conformances
  • Drive process updates and improvements to work instructions in collaboration with Manufacturing and Quality teams
  • Track and report non-conformance trends to identify systemic issues and prioritize design improvements
  • Support Material Review Board activities and maintain associated documentation
  • Interact with internal customers, suppliers, and cross-functional engineering teams
