Job description

The RF Compliance Systems Engineer at Apple will work within the Wireless Systems and Compliance Engineering team to ensure wireless regulatory compliance for new products. This role involves applying wireless system design knowledge to address emission regulatory requirements and collaborating with multifunctional teams. The engineer will perform debugging, failure analysis, and propose design changes while also architecting software features necessary for compliance. The position requires a strong background in RF technologies and regulatory specifications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree with 10+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Industry experience in development and characterization of RF/Antenna systems for wireless technologies.
  • Experience in commercializing products for Cellular/WLAN.
  • Experience with regulatory and industry conformance specifications for consumer products.
  • Experience in RF layout review, radiated sub-system review, and system grounding.
  • Experience with tools like MATLAB, HFSS, CST, or ADS.
  • Master's Degree with 10+ years of relevant work experience preferred.
  • Detailed understanding of at least one wireless technology including 5G, GSM, UMTS, CDMA, LTE, and Bluetooth.
  • Understanding of regulatory features like DFS, Adaptivity, and Power Table.
  • Experience with radiated test methodology, equipment, and 3m Chamber.

Responsibilities

  • Apply wireless system design and characterization knowledge towards addressing emission regulatory requirements.
  • Translate various emission requirements into system requirements for new chipsets and platforms.
  • Perform debugging of marginal and failure tests while interacting with multifunctional teams.
  • Conduct hardware failure analysis at the RF/wireless system level to identify root causes of issues.
  • Propose design and process changes for RSE issues while considering design constraints.
  • Review designs and sign-off on releases of PCB layouts and system-level groundings.
  • Collaborate with partners for circuit-level and system-level simulations to understand risk areas.
  • Architect and coordinate execution of software features necessary for regulatory compliance.
  • Define emission test plans for custom features and work with test equipment vendors.
