Job description
As a Mechanical Engineer in the Manipulation Workcell Hardware team at Amazon Robotics, you will design and develop robotic work cell hardware from concept through production. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate industrial automation and motion control systems into functional work cells. This role involves conducting mechanical systems analysis and creating comprehensive design documentation. You will work in a fast-paced environment, tackling challenges in designing state-of-the-art robotic systems that enhance customer experiences.
Requirements
- 4+ years of working in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
- Proficiency with computer-aided design software
- Knowledge of SolidWorks simulation or Ansys Finite Element analysis tools
- Experience in the design of complex mechanical products and equipment at volume
- Knowledge of industrial automation systems and motion control principles
- Experience working in cross-functional product development environments
Responsibilities
- Design and develop robotic work cell hardware from concept through production, including specifications, design, prototyping, testing, and validation collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Integrate industrial automation and motion control systems into functional work cells, and specify components such as motors, actuators, pneumatics, sensors, and safety systems.
- Conduct mechanical systems analysis using finite element analysis tools and traditional calculations to validate design performance.
- Create comprehensive design documentation including drawings, requirements, functional specifications, and validation plans to support future iterations and compliance.
- Partner with Operations, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, and vendor partners to ensure successful product launch and ongoing support.
