Job description

As a Mechanical Engineer in the Manipulation Workcell Hardware team at Amazon Robotics, you will design and develop robotic work cell hardware from concept through production. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate industrial automation and motion control systems into functional work cells. This role involves conducting mechanical systems analysis and creating comprehensive design documentation. You will work in a fast-paced environment, tackling challenges in designing state-of-the-art robotic systems that enhance customer experiences.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of working in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
  • Proficiency with computer-aided design software
  • Knowledge of SolidWorks simulation or Ansys Finite Element analysis tools
  • Experience in the design of complex mechanical products and equipment at volume
  • Knowledge of industrial automation systems and motion control principles
  • Experience working in cross-functional product development environments

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop robotic work cell hardware from concept through production, including specifications, design, prototyping, testing, and validation collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Integrate industrial automation and motion control systems into functional work cells, and specify components such as motors, actuators, pneumatics, sensors, and safety systems.
  • Conduct mechanical systems analysis using finite element analysis tools and traditional calculations to validate design performance.
  • Create comprehensive design documentation including drawings, requirements, functional specifications, and validation plans to support future iterations and compliance.
  • Partner with Operations, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, and vendor partners to ensure successful product launch and ongoing support.

Benefits

  • Employees at Amazon are often offered comprehensive health benefits—including multiple medical plan options (no pre-existing condition exclusions, 100% covered in-network preventive care), dental and vision plans, a 24/7 medical advice line from day one, expert second-opinion services, and broad mental-health support with several free counseling sessions (including pediatric). Financial wellness typically includes a 401(k) with company match (up to 2%), Restricted Stock Units (equity), FSAs, an emergency savings program, product and partner discounts, and even college-savings and home-purchase programs. Overall, the package is designed to support employees and their families’ health, finances, and day-to-day life.
