Job description
The Kernel Senior Software Engineer role at Google focuses on developing and maintaining core operating system components for Fuchsia, specifically within the Zircon kernel team. This team is responsible for foundational operating system functions, ensuring security, performance, and reliability at the bare-metal layer. The engineer will work on complex challenges such as low-level context switching and thread scheduling while collaborating with cross-functional teams. Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.
- 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products.
- 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
- Experience with systems programming, operating systems, or general embedded development.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and optimize core kernel infrastructure, including virtual memory page tables and thread schedulers.
- Develop and maintain sound multi-language FFI boundaries to bridge legacy C++ subsystems with modern Rust components.
- Implement advanced low-level diagnostic frameworks and execute comprehensive test categories to isolate non-deterministic system behaviors.
- Collaborate across compiler, tools, and security infrastructure teams to audit code generation and systematically document memory invariants.
