Job description

The Principal Data Scientist at Global Skilling will set the technical vision for measurement and learning intelligence across Microsoft skilling experiences. This role focuses on driving innovation in production-scale solutions that measure learner progress and personalize content. The candidate will lead high-impact problem spaces, shaping product strategy and platform architecture. Collaboration with various Microsoft teams is essential to influence senior leaders and deliver innovations that improve learner outcomes.

Requirements

  • Doctorate in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 3+ years of data-science experience
  • Master's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 5+ years of data-science experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 7+ years of data science experience
  • Equivalent experience in data science

Responsibilities

  • Architect and deliver production-scale agentic solutions that measure learner progress and personalize content.
  • Define and operationalize enterprise-scale measurement methodologies for learner journeys and proficiency progression.
  • Build and evolve skill graphs, taxonomies, and competency models to power agentic measurement and personalization.
  • Establish evaluation and observability frameworks for predictive and adaptive learning systems.
  • Set the experimentation and causal-measurement strategy for skilling outcomes using various analytical methods.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to shape platform architecture and data strategy.
  • Serve as a technical leader for the data science community by mentoring scientists and setting standards.
