Job description
The Principal Firmware Engineer will work within Microsoft's Silicon and Cloud Hardware Infrastructure Engineering team, focusing on the development of firmware for Azure infrastructure. This role involves collaborating with various teams to ensure the successful integration and validation of silicon and firmware technologies. The engineer will lead efforts in debugging complex silicon issues and drive the architecture of SoC validation firmware. The position requires a strong background in silicon design and firmware development to support Microsoft's cloud mission.
Requirements
- Doctorate in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field AND 3+ years technical engineering experience OR Master's Degree in the same fields AND 6+ years technical engineering experience OR Bachelor's Degree in the same fields AND 8+ years technical engineering experience OR equivalent experience.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.
Responsibilities
- Architect and develop SoC validation firmware and framework solutions.
- Enable debug features and integration of debug infrastructure.
- Lead and drive root cause analysis of complex silicon issues spanning RTL and firmware.
- Technically lead a small team of experienced engineers in delivering products.
- Define boot flow sequences for initial silicon bring-up and lead early silicon bring-up.
- Collaborate with SoC architects to influence hardware features for usability and debuggability.
- Collaborate with cross-geo teams to drive program execution and deliver products.
