JobsFire Protection Engineer (Data Centers)
Job description
The Fire Protection Engineer will support Jacobs' rapidly growing Data Center practice by providing fire protection engineering across multiple projects. This role involves collaborating with clients, architects, and engineers to develop innovative fire protection designs that meet stringent reliability and code requirements. The engineer will be part of a Mechanical Data Center team focused on delivering cost-effective and transformative projects. The position allows for hybrid work and is open to candidates across the United States.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- 5+ years of fire protection engineering experience.
- Extensive knowledge of NFPA Codes and Standards, International Building Code (IBC), and International Fire Code (IFC).
- Experience designing fire suppression systems for large industrial, commercial, or Data Center facilities.
- Strong understanding of fire pumps, water-based suppression systems, and hydraulic calculations.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the Fire Protection Engineer for Data Center and Mission Critical projects.
- Provide fire protection system design, code analysis, and life safety engineering.
- Establish project fire protection design criteria and technical standards.
- Conduct code evaluations and interpretations using applicable standards.
- Develop suppression system concepts and perform hydraulic calculations for fire water distribution networks.
