Job description

The Security Software Engineer role at Netflix focuses on architecting and implementing system-level security for the Open Connect edge and gaming appliances. This position is part of a small team dedicated to enhancing the security of critical content delivery infrastructure. The engineer will work on a heterogeneous stack, ensuring both efficiency and security from the hardware up. This role offers the opportunity to directly impact a vital area of the business while collaborating with various stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Proven track record of architecting and implementing security features that meaningfully improve system security.
  • Deep expertise in low-level systems and hardware security across a heterogeneous stack.
  • Experience using operating system execution environments such as containers or virtual machines to enhance security.
  • Success at partnering with others to improve the security posture through cross-functional changes.
  • Experience using AI agents to automate security research.

Responsibilities

  • Define and evolve the security architecture of the full compute stack.
  • Implement security enhancements using various methods including kernel and user-space development.
  • Drive platform integrity work including measured/secure boot for appliances.
  • Analyze and triage new system-level security bugs and provide appliance security expertise during incident response.
  • Partner with stakeholders to build secure architecture for binary ingestion and execution.
  • Develop automated systems and low-level tooling to perform vulnerability research.
  • Act as a security liaison between Open Connect and other organizations.

Benefits

  • Employees at Netflix are often offered flexible, people-first benefits—unlimited time away, generous parental leave, global family-forming support, mental-health programs (mindfulness, free counseling/coaching), and health coverage tailored by country. Financially, Netflix pays at personal top-of-market and lets employees choose their mix of cash vs. fully-vested 10-year stock options, alongside donation and volunteer matching. Convenience perks can include trust-based travel/expense policies, relocation support, and “Work, Not Drive” rideshare flexibility.
