As an Operations Engineer at Amazon, you will lead and manage cross-functional projects focused on developing and delivering innovative sortation and distribution solutions. You will work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure timely project execution and effective communication. The role requires a strong understanding of material handling systems and the ability to manage project schedules while mitigating risks. You will be part of a diverse team committed to continuous improvement and delivering high-quality solutions.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience as an industrial engineer, operations engineer, manufacturing engineer, or project engineer in a manufacturing environment.
- Bachelor's degree in industrial or manufacturing engineering.
- Experience working with material handling equipment (MHE).
- Knowledge of automated material handling systems, packaging technologies, and storage solutions.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD, VBA, and SQL at the intermediate level.
- Master's degree in engineering, management, or technology is preferred.
- Experience working with and managing third-party vendors.
- Experience with Six Sigma and lean manufacturing.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications.
Responsibilities
- Manage the lifecycle of challenging projects and deliver on project objectives and targets.
- Participate in engineering reviews and impact proposed solutions on system architecture and facility processes.
- Partner with internal teams and external vendors to set project priorities and drive schedules.
- Lead execution efforts in delivering systems and automated equipment designs according to established standards.
- Communicate project status, risk analysis, and mitigation plans promptly and accurately.
- Articulate system and equipment designs to internal customers and partner teams.
- Manage change order controls, purchase orders, and invoice validations.
- Identify and lead process improvement initiatives to enhance engineering efficiencies.
