As an Antenna Systems Engineer at Amazon's Leo satellite broadband network, you will focus on the design and optimization of phased array antenna systems. You will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to deliver high-performance solutions for various customers. The role involves both theoretical and practical aspects, including simulation, measurement, and calibration of antenna systems. Your work will contribute to providing reliable internet connectivity to underserved communities worldwide.
Requirements
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, or Rust.
- Experience with Linux/Unix operating systems.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with relevant coursework in digital communication theory, digital signal processing, RF/Microwave Engineering, Antennas, and Electromagnetic theory.
- Experience in DSP techniques, digital modulation, radio architecture, line-up analysis, and RF system design.
- Experience with lab test equipment like VSAs, VSGs, VNAs, and Oscilloscopes.
- Coding and scripting skills with demonstrated experience in Matlab, Python, or C++.
- Experience with simulation tools such as SystemVue, ADS, or LabView.
- Experience with CI/CD pipeline build processes.
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with 3+ years of work experience or PhD with 2+ years of experience.
- Experience working with phased arrays, calibration, and antenna measurement.
- Experience with one of the mainstream antenna simulation tools (CST or HFSS).
- Good understanding of modern wireless technologies (OFDM/MIMO) and medium access procedures.
- Familiarity with the basics of probability and estimation theory.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement phased array calibration systems, signals, processing, and algorithms.
- Conduct performance analysis and design trade-off studies of phased arrays.
- Perform end-to-end modeling, simulation, and analysis of baseband, RF, and antenna systems.
- Conduct lab measurement and validation of performance for antennas and phased array systems and subsystems.
- Collaborate with antenna, modem, RF, and digital teams to simulate, measure, and fine-tune radio designs.
