Job description

This role is part of the Silicon Validation Hardware team, focusing on the design and manufacturing of high-performance, power-efficient processors and system-on-chip (SoC) for Apple products. The position involves a variety of tasks including high-speed board designs, implementing test circuits, and debugging complex system-level issues. You will collaborate closely with designers across multiple groups within Apple, contributing significantly to the silicon engineering efforts. The goal is to enable the next generation of innovative Apple products that enhance user experience.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or a related degree program with 10 years of experience.
  • Experience with schematic level board design.
  • Understanding of board bring-up and debug strategies.
  • Strong fundamentals in electrical engineering concepts, including transistor operation and signal integrity.
  • RTL experience using Verilog or VHDL, preferably with FPGA design experience.
  • Proficiency with standard hardware lab equipment such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
  • Test automation expertise using Perl, Tcl, or Python.

Responsibilities

  • Develop specifications based on requirements from cross-functional teams.
  • Perform schematic capture and circuit design, defining layout and routing constraints.
  • Conduct design reviews and simulations.
  • Engage in FPGA and CPLD development.
  • Oversee board bring-up, testing, characterization, and debugging.
  • Analyze power and signal integrity.
  • Design and characterize high-speed interfaces.
  • Debug a wide range of issues on test boards and production systems.

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
