The Principal Firmware Engineer will join the Azure Platform Security and Confidentiality team, focusing on firmware development for server, silicon, and rack infrastructure. This role emphasizes innovation in security technology to enhance Azure infrastructure for Microsoft and its customers. Candidates should possess strong C programming skills and experience in low-level driver development. The position involves evaluating third-party components for security compliance and contributing to all phases of product development.
Requirements
- Doctorate in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field AND 3+ years technical engineering experience OR Master's Degree in the same fields AND 6+ years technical engineering experience OR Bachelor's Degree in the same fields AND 8+ years technical engineering experience OR equivalent experience.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.
- 12+ years of professional experience designing and developing software solutions.
- Proficiency in C/C++ and RUST programming.
- Experience with security and embedded software/firmware development.
- Knowledge in encryption ciphers and security protocols.
- Experience with penetration testing.
Responsibilities
- Participate in all phases of product development, from microarchitecture design to firmware architecture and development.
- Drive the architecture, design, and development of security sub-systems including firmware development of low-level hardware interfaces.
- Evaluate third-party components' security design to ensure compliance with Azure's Platform Security requirements.
- Debug and resolve issues spanning multiple subsystems across firmware and hardware.
