Job description

The Junior to Mid-Level Platform Engineer role at Jacobs focuses on supporting the design, implementation, and maintenance of specialized developer platforms. The position is ideal for individuals with hands-on experience in building and maintaining platforms, automating infrastructure, and ensuring security and compliance. The engineer will collaborate with development teams to provide tools that enhance the developer experience. This role is part of a team dedicated to high-performance computing products within the National Security and Defense industry.

Requirements

  • 3-7 years of hands-on Linux system administration experience
  • At least 1 year of experience working with Kubernetes Clusters or related cloud native technology
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and automation
  • Ability to create and maintain clear technical documentation
  • A current active TS with SCI eligibility and willingness to take a polygraph exam
  • Ability to obtain a CompTIA Security+ CE certification within the first 6 months of employment

Responsibilities

  • Manage Linux systems on-premise and in cloud infrastructure
  • Provide hardware and software support for users, customers, and personnel
  • Collaborate with a team of engineers to design, implement, and test features and functionality
  • Support the development of system documentation
  • Develop and define techniques and tools to support efficient solutions
  • Maintain and provide technical expertise in hardware, software, and networking
  • Troubleshoot systems, performance, and security issues
  • Follow change management and implementation best practices
  • Collaborate with systems, security, and support teams as needed
  • Execute and coordinate the end-to-end remediation of critical and high-risk vulnerabilities
  • Deploy, upgrade, and manage containerized applications in a Kubernetes Cluster
  • Automate infrastructure tasks using tools such as Ansible, Python, or Bash
