Job description

The Sr Engineer Supplier Development at Rivian is a key individual contributor within the Supply Chain team, focusing on ensuring the quality performance and continuous improvement of assigned suppliers. This role involves working with moderate autonomy to address supplier manufacturing capabilities and quality expectations. The engineer will proactively identify challenges at the supplier level and propose actionable solutions to mitigate risks. The position requires strong technical skills and the ability to influence sourcing decisions through data-driven insights.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant supplier development experience.
  • Experience managing commodities and understanding economic and technology landscapes.
  • Strong knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA).
  • Advanced knowledge of manufacturing techniques and supplier performance ownership.

Responsibilities

  • Own the quality performance for chassis, focusing on maintaining 'Low-to-No Risk' (CL3) status.
  • Proactively identify challenges and propose specific solutions to remove risks before they impact production.
  • Lead the APQP/PPAP process for assigned parts, ensuring suppliers meet all technical and documentation standards.
  • Act as the technical owner for the industrialization of assigned suppliers and manage the final quality sign-off process.
  • Use data-driven insights to influence the work of peers and drive improvements within the assigned scope.
