Job description

The Electronic Systems Technical Specialist – Tools will join the engineering team at Cummins in Columbus, IN, focusing on resolving electronic tools issues and improving their effectiveness. This role requires collaboration with product and software development teams to deliver high-quality software features and ensure robust designs. The specialist will also lead smaller projects and drive continuous improvement across tools and processes. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or an appropriate STEM field is required.
  • Prior Senior or Lead Engineer equivalent work experience in a relevant discipline area is required.
  • Working knowledge of battery-electric vehicle (BEV) diagnostics fundamentals is required.
  • Proficiency with engineering collaboration tools such as JIRA, Git, and Confluence is required.
  • Baseline understanding of service tester hardware and interfaces is required.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate and resolve electronic tools issues end-to-end by identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
  • Improve the effectiveness and reliability of electronic tools by applying and enhancing standard development processes.
  • Deliver high-quality, verified software features by collaborating with product and software development teams.
  • Make sound technical decisions in software architecture, requirements, design, and testing.
  • Lead smaller projects or take ownership of complex components or systems with full accountability.
  • Drive continuous improvement by leading enhancements to tools, processes, and systems.
  • Serve as a trusted technical specialist by providing guidance on technical direction.
