Job description
Arcadis is seeking a Bridge/Structural Engineer to support the design and delivery of bridge and structural infrastructure projects across Tennessee. The role involves collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to contribute to new construction, inspection, rehabilitation, and repair of transportation structures. As a key technical contributor, the engineer will guide project delivery from concept through construction. This position offers the opportunity to mentor junior engineers and coordinate across various disciplines to ensure integrated solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
- Minimum of 7 years of bridge engineering experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Tennessee or the ability to obtain it within 6–12 months
- Strong experience in structural analysis and design
- Working knowledge of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications
- Experience with Bentley software suite, such as OpenBridge and MicroStation
- Proficiency with structural analysis tools like Midas or LEAP
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent knowledge of relevant design codes including AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications
Responsibilities
- Serve as a design engineer for bridges and transportation structures, including new design, inspection, rehabilitation, and repair
- Lead, assign, and review work while providing technical guidance to team members
- Develop engineering calculations, plans, specifications, and contract documents
- Evaluate engineering alternatives and apply sound judgment in design decisions
- Collaborate with internal teams, clients, and subcontractors throughout the project lifecycle
- Prepare and present technical reports, documentation, and design deliverables
- Perform structural analysis and design with increasing complexity under senior review
- Provide mentorship and oversight to junior structural engineers on small to mid-sized projects
- Coordinate across disciplines such as transportation, geotechnical, and drainage to ensure integrated solutions
