Job description

As a Cloud Network Engineer II at Microsoft Digital, you will design, deploy, and operate the global wired access network infrastructure that supports Microsoft's business operations. This role involves working with cutting-edge technologies in networking, automation, and AI to enhance network design and operations. Requirements

  • 5+ years of technical experience in network design, development, and automation.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field AND 2+ years of technical experience in network design, development, and automation.
  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 1+ year(s) of technical experience in network design, development, and automation.
  • Hands-on experience designing, deploying, and operating enterprise or campus wired networks.
  • Experience with Layer 2 / Layer 3 networking fundamentals.

Responsibilities

  • Help create and maintain wired network designs, standards, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Deploy and migrate wired network infrastructure across corporate campuses and customer-facing facilities.
  • Coordinate deployment partners and vendors to ensure solutions are implemented and documented.
  • Engineer and support enterprise network services including switching, routing, and authentication.
  • Implement modern campus fabric and access technologies.
  • Provide end-to-end network engineering support for Microsoft Customer Experience Centers.
  • Evaluate, test, and onboard new networking platforms and technologies.
  • Develop and maintain automation, tooling, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  • Contribute to Microsoft's vision for Agentic Network Engineering.
  • Maintain accurate network documentation and inventory.
  • Support security, compliance, and Zero Trust principles.
  • Participate in a DRI / on-call rotation to monitor and improve service availability.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, security teams, and service owners.
