The Principal Software Engineer will join the Microsoft Purview Data Security engineering team, focusing on building security, protection, and compliance capabilities for sensitive data across various environments. This role requires expertise in high throughput and multi-tenant services, with an emphasis on clean, maintainable code and error handling. The engineer will collaborate with product management and design teams to translate requirements into long-term platform investments. The position also involves establishing engineering best practices and providing technical leadership across multiple feature teams.

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.

• Drive end-to-end design and implementation of highly scalable, reliable, and secure cloud services operating at Microsoft scale.
• Partner with Product Management, Design, and partner engineering teams to translate customer and business requirements into long-term platform investments.
• Establish engineering best practices around architecture, reliability, observability, performance, security, and operational excellence.
• Provide technical leadership across multiple feature teams, influencing engineering decisions beyond immediate organizational boundaries.
• Drive adoption of modern AI, agentic, and data intelligence capabilities to improve customer value and developer productivity.
