Job description

The Software Engineer II position at Microsoft focuses on contributing to the Azure Monitor team, which is part of the Azure Data engineering group. This team is responsible for building services that enable customers to monitor and troubleshoot their services effectively. The role emphasizes full-stack development, particularly in front-end technologies like React and back-end technologies such as C#. Candidates will work on cloud-native infrastructure and be involved in the design, coding, and deployment of production-quality features.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • 2+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Fabric, AWS, or similar cloud computing platforms is preferred.
  • Experience with modern AI technologies, including Generative AI and cloud-scale data platforms is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Drive well-scoped design and implementation work for cloud-native infrastructure used by Azure Observability services across multiple environments.
  • Own production-quality features end to end, including design, coding, validation, deployment, monitoring, and live-site support.
  • Partner with adjacent infrastructure, observability, and platform teams to align dependencies and deliver supportable solutions.
  • Participate in on-call and incident response, using learnings from live-site issues to improve automation and troubleshooting guides.
  • Contribute to building the next generation system for collecting, processing, storing, and analyzing monitoring and diagnostic data.

Benefits

  • Employees at Microsoft are often offered comprehensive, “world-class” benefits—including health and mental-wellness programs, competitive pay with bonuses and stock awards, and retirement/savings options. Time-off and flexibility are common, with generous vacation and holidays, parental and caregiver leave, and flexible work schedules, alongside learning support, employee resource groups, product discounts, and matching-gifts/volunteering programs. Specific benefits can vary by region.
