The Senior Site Reliability Engineer role is part of the Compute team at Microsoft, which is integral to Azure's infrastructure. This team focuses on building and managing fault-tolerant distributed systems to support customer applications in the cloud. The position emphasizes delivering value in mission-critical environments and fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration. Requirements
- Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 2+ years technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, or systems administration OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 4+ years technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, or systems administration OR equivalent experience.
- Candidates must have an active U.S. Government Top Secret Clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.
- Verification of U.S. citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions.
Responsibilities
- Act as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) and guide other engineers by developing and following the playbook.
- Monitor system/product/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions and alert stakeholders about status.
- Drive development of design documents for products, applications, services, or platforms.
- Create, implement, optimize, debug, refactor, and reuse code to improve performance and maintainability.
- Take full ownership of assigned services and contribute to their enhancement across all cloud environments.
- Identify opportunities for automation and optimization within the cloud to better support customers.
- Engage in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the service's capabilities and user experience.
