Job description

The Application Development Lead for Margin and Risk at Citi is a senior-level position focused on leading the development of applications that manage risk and margin requirements in the Equities Technology team. This role involves collaborating with engineers and business partners to enhance strategic systems that support trading operations. The candidate will oversee application design, ensure adherence to architecture standards, and guide a team in delivering high-quality software solutions. The position is based in Jersey City, NJ, and requires expertise in margin and risk management.

Requirements

  • 6-10 years of relevant experience in an application development role with hands-on coding.
  • Demonstrated thought leadership in designing complex and distributed systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of Java, Spring, Kafka, and Distributed Cache/Systems.
  • Hands-on experience with relational databases like Oracle.
  • Experience with NoSQL databases like MongoDB is preferred.
  • Experience with Python is preferred.
  • Great exposure to microservices architecture.
  • API first design thinking and implementation using Rest, websocket, and gRPC.
  • Experience with building applications on cloud platforms such as Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Understanding of Risks (Greeks) and risk calculation models like VaR/SIMM is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expertise in application programming and ensure design adheres to architecture standards.
  • Utilize advanced knowledge of system flow to develop coding, testing, debugging, and implementation standards.
  • Guide the team to establish design standards and improve development workflow efficiency.
  • Take ownership of smooth production release planning and execution.
  • Oversee software quality and system modifications.
  • Serve as an advisor or coach to mid-level developers and analysts, allocating work as necessary.
  • Analyze existing operations to identify risks and redundancies.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to develop solutions.
  • Liaise with team members and management to ensure projects meet development and governance standards.
  • Keep up-to-date with industry trends and developments.
  • Resolve high-impact problems through in-depth evaluation of complex business processes and systems.
