The Software Development Engineer will work on the EKS Management Plane team, focusing on cluster lifecycle, availability, and insights. This role involves building state machines and orchestration workflows for Kubernetes operations, as well as developing health-detection systems to prevent outages. The engineer will collaborate with experienced peers to enhance resilience capabilities and ensure fault tolerance in distributed systems. This position includes on-call responsibilities and offers opportunities for end-to-end feature ownership.

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience of new and existing systems
• 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
• 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications using C#, C++, Java, or Perl
• 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language
• 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience

• Build and improve state machines and orchestration workflows that drive cluster create, update, and upgrade operations
• Develop health-detection systems that surface actionable insights to customers before issues become outages
• Contribute to resilience capabilities from design through production
• Collaborate with experienced engineers across EKS to solve problems that span multiple services and teams
