The role is for a software engineer on the OpenSearch Control Plane team, which focuses on managing a large fleet of cloud-native OpenSearch clusters. The team is responsible for ensuring high availability and durability for mission-critical workloads while automating the lifecycle of OpenSearch clusters. Engineers will work with various programming languages and contribute to the development of a managed search service that meets evolving customer needs. The position emphasizes treating operations as core engineering and solving complex problems in cluster orchestration and infrastructure.
Requirements
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience of new and existing systems
- 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
- 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications
- 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and operate components of a large-scale distributed control plane
- Look for opportunities to simplify and reduce complexity in the codebase
- Own the systems you build end-to-end and participate in incident response
- Solve real problems in cluster orchestration and operational tooling
- Use AI coding assistants effectively across the software development lifecycle
- Write robust, efficient, and maintainable code in Java, Rust, Python, or Go
- Partner with senior engineers to translate ambiguous requirements into concrete deliverables
- Continually challenge existing systems and explore improvements to better serve customers
