This hands-on role involves working closely with mechanical and firmware engineers to ensure seamless integration and functionality. The team at Fauna Robotics aims to create accessible and delightful robotic systems for everyday life. The engineer will be responsible for managing the entire subsystem from design to validation.
Requirements
- 3+ years of electrical engineering experience with a focus on power electronics design
- Experience designing DC/DC converters, full-bridge inverters, or isolated power topologies
- Strong PCB design and layout skills with demonstrated experience on high-current power circuits
- Hands-on lab skills to independently bring up, debug, and validate power boards
- Experience with embedded system interfaces and basic firmware configuration
- Experience with wireless power transfer or resonant magnetics design
- Experience with high-voltage design and AC mains-connected circuits
- Experience with magnetics design and custom transformer procurement
- Thermal analysis skills for power loss estimation and heatsink sizing
- Experience managing vendor relationships for custom components
- Experience with EMC pre-compliance testing and filter/shielding design
- Familiarity with safety standards relevant to power electronics
- Experience with test automation scripting for power characterization
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
Responsibilities
- Design and validate power converter circuits including DC/DC stages and protection circuitry
- Own PCB schematic capture and layout for power circuits with attention to thermal management
- Bring up and debug prototype boards independently in the lab
- Perform thermal analysis to estimate power losses and validate thermal performance
- Collaborate with firmware engineers on control interfaces
- Work with mechanical engineers on physical integration of thermal solutions
- Develop and execute electrical test plans including board bring-up and functional verification
- Manage vendor relationships for custom components and contract manufacturing
- Support EMC pre-compliance testing and design filtering solutions
- Contribute to broader platform electronics projects as program needs evolve
- Maintain design documentation including schematics and test reports
- Participate in design reviews and define electrical engineering best practices
