The Network Implementation Engineer role at Google focuses on delivering end-to-end connectivity for metro sites within the Edge Metro Capacity Delivery team. This position involves working with various teams to ensure the reliable operation of Google's extensive network infrastructure. The engineer will play a critical role in planning, deploying, and troubleshooting network devices while also contributing to process optimizations through scripting. This role requires collaboration across multiple functions to enhance network performance and reliability.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 6 years of experience in telecommunications at carrier scale working with optical network infrastructure, transmission systems, and layer2/3 routers.
- Experience planning and leading network deployments and creating deployment packages.
- Experience coordinating with field operation technicians, engineers, contractors, or vendors in a telecommunications environment.
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time during project peak times.
Responsibilities
- Support and participate with Design, Deployment, and Planning teams to deliver connectivity for assigned metro sites.
- Execute and troubleshoot capacity workflows for edge network devices across Google's global network.
- Work with Core, Transport, and Edge teams to create standard Bill Of Materials and detailed design packages.
- Manage the creation and maintenance of network documentation and implementation plans, ensuring technical accuracy.
- Apply scripting and software development skills to automate workflows and drive process optimizations.
