The Senior EPMS Engineer role within Microsoft's Cloud Operations and Innovation team focuses on delivering core datacenter infrastructure. This position requires a passionate electrical engineer who will oversee the specification and development of electrical systems for datacenters. The successful candidate will collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure compliance with Microsoft standards and will manage consultants throughout the design and commissioning processes. The role also involves occasional travel for testing and vendor interactions.
Requirements
- Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 1+ year(s) technical engineering experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience OR equivalent experience.
- Detailed understanding of uninterruptible power sources, diesel generators, electrical switchgear, power distribution units, and automatic/static transfer switches.
- Knowledge of Electrical Power Monitoring System (EPMS), Branch Circuit Monitoring System (BCMS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC).
- Experience in designing, operating and commissioning electrical distribution systems from high voltage (HV) to branch circuits.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, attention to details and maintain high-quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Microsoft’s Global Datacenter Engineering team to develop the datacenter EPMS designs from Basis of Design to Issue for Constructions.
- Lead and direct A/E consultants in the design and coordination of the EPMS systems with other disciplines.
- Manage all Electrical EPMS system designs during the design stages, equipment procurement, bidding, manufacturing, delivery and installation on site.
- Interface closely with internal procurement team, manufacturers and the global and local engineering teams to deliver the EPMS solutions needed for each project.
- Assist the Operations teams with EPMS system and equipment strategic improvements.
