Job description

NVIDIA is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Cumulus Linux team, focusing on developing the Network Operating System for data centers. This role involves working on software that powers NVIDIA's Ethernet switches, contributing to the growth in AI and high-performance computing. The engineer will collaborate with various teams to implement core platform services and enhance the reliability and serviceability of Cumulus Linux. The position is based in Santa Clara and requires a hybrid work model with two to three days in the office each week.

Requirements

  • Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Bachelor's degree with equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years of proven experience writing enterprise software.
  • Strong coding skills in C and Python.
  • Previous experience with I2C, PSUs, SMBus, and PHY/Layer-1 technologies.
  • Good knowledge of Linux systems administration and Linux internals.
  • Experience with source code management tools and debugging tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop software for the Cumulus Linux operating system.
  • Work on bringing up Cumulus Linux on next generation NVIDIA switches.
  • Develop and maintain software in Python, C, and Shell for the operating system.
  • Collaborate with product, architecture, and engineering teams to deliver features.
  • Debug and resolve issues reported by test and customer-facing teams.
  • Work with open source software and address issues as they arise.
