Job description
The role is for a senior engineering leader at Netflix who will oversee the engineering roadmap for Platform Systems within the AI for Member Systems (AIMS) team. This team is responsible for the AI systems that power recommendations and personalized experiences for over 300 million members. The focus is on evolving the infrastructure to meet new AI/ML demands while building a high-performing team and setting engineering culture standards. The position requires deep technical engagement and leadership in distributed systems architecture.
Requirements
- Significant experience leading platform or infrastructure engineering organizations operating distributed systems at scale.
- Strong technical depth in distributed systems to engage credibly on architecture and design decisions.
- Hands-on experience building subsystems that support advanced agentic architectures.
- Experience with ML infrastructure at scale, understanding the operational complexity of model training pipelines.
- Track record of building high-performing engineering teams and developing senior technical talent.
- Developer productivity as a foundational instinct, focusing on removing friction and automating toil.
Responsibilities
- Define and own the long-term technical strategy for Platform Systems.
- Set the engineering excellence standard for AIMS by owning observability and reliability practices.
- Own the subsystems for observability, evaluation, and tooling for Netflix's next generation ML architecture.
- Hire, develop, and retain a team of engineers across a range of seniority levels.
- Partner at the director level across AIMS and infrastructure teams for strategic planning.
- Guide the AI stack modernization effort and establish the migration path.
Benefits
- Employees at Netflix are often offered flexible, people-first benefits—unlimited time away, generous parental leave, global family-forming support, mental-health programs (mindfulness, free counseling/coaching), and health coverage tailored by country. Financially, Netflix pays at personal top-of-market and lets employees choose their mix of cash vs. fully-vested 10-year stock options, alongside donation and volunteer matching. Convenience perks can include trust-based travel/expense policies, relocation support, and “Work, Not Drive” rideshare flexibility.
