The Security Software Engineer role at Netflix focuses on owning protocol and foundational security for Open Connect edge appliances. This small team of software engineers is responsible for developing and maintaining secure and efficient software that supports Netflix's content delivery network. The position offers the opportunity to impact critical areas of the business, particularly as Netflix scales its Live and Cloud Games initiatives. The engineer will work closely with business and product stakeholders to translate their goals into security requirements and technical designs.

• Proven track record of architecting and implementing security features that improve system security.
• Deep, hands-on expertise in applied cryptography and security protocols and techniques such as TLS, DTLS, and QUIC.
• Experience with design, development, and deployment of end-to-end security controls.
• Ability to collaborate with others to enhance the security posture through cross-functional changes.
• Experience with C, Golang, and Python is preferred.

• Design and build security primitives for streaming protocols for large scale content delivery.
• Partner with business and product stakeholders to translate their goals into security requirements.
• Develop and own a consolidated set of application security primitives across delivery paths.
• Optimize the crypto and transport security layers on OC appliances for performance and resource efficiency.
• Conduct vulnerability research and mitigation for application and protocol-level vulnerabilities.
