Job description
The role involves working within Apple's Platform Architecture group to unify hardware and software systems. You will collaborate with engineers to enhance system-on-a-chip architecture and develop optimized solutions based on Apple Silicon. The focus is on analyzing workloads to identify performance bottlenecks and providing recommendations for improvements. This position requires a strong background in software performance optimization and collaboration with various teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent job-related experience in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience in software development for hardware IPs such as AI/ML HW accelerators, GPUs, or image/video encoders.
- Experience with AI/ML, graphics, or HPC performance benchmarks and workloads.
- M.S. or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field.
- 10+ years of relevant experience in software performance optimization and development of efficient computational algorithms.
- Knowledge of computer architecture fundamentals.
- Proficiency in C/C++ programming languages and scripting languages such as Python.
- Proficiency in popular AI/ML frameworks, such as PyTorch.
Responsibilities
- Analyze existing and new workloads to identify performance bottlenecks in hardware and software.
- Address performance limitations and provide recommendations for hardware and software improvements.
- Identify patterns of performance challenges on Apple silicon and emerging usage models.
- Provide feedback to silicon and software teams for potential improvements.
- Prototype and benchmark algorithms on CPU, GPU, and Neural Engine platforms.
- Analyze performance metrics and create high-level complexity models.
