Job description
This is a Vice President level Software Engineering position within the Agency department of Morgan Stanley's Technology division. The role focuses on developing and maintaining software solutions that support business needs, particularly for time-sensitive Agency trading systems. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical judgment and problem-solving skills, and will be responsible for high-quality delivery in a fast-paced trading environment. The position requires effective communication with product leads and front-office users to enhance existing technology solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 10 years of relevant experience in software engineering.
- Experience with at least two programming languages such as q/kdb, Java, Scala, C++, or Python.
- Strong engineering fundamentals and the ability to design, develop, review, test, and improve software.
- Familiarity with relational databases and SQL.
- Knowledge of Agency MBS products, especially TBA or specified pool trading.
Responsibilities
- Communicate regularly with product leads across the technology organization to discuss opportunities for improvement.
- Provide product support for time-sensitive Agency trading systems.
- Triage issues quickly and communicate clearly with traders.
- Take responsibility for stability improvements and high-quality delivery.
- Learn new technologies and business workflows as needed.
- Manage multiple functions and guide junior staff and initiatives.
