Job description
The Senior Mechanical Engineer will join the RAPID engineering team at KLA, focusing on the development of next-generation semiconductor capital equipment. This role demands a strong technical foundation and an ownership mindset, guiding projects from concept through to manufacturing handoff. The ideal candidate will excel in ambiguous environments and lead complex engineering efforts. Responsibilities include developing precision mechanical and opto-mechanical inspection systems to ensure high lithography yields.
Requirements
- Doctorate degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 2+ years of experience, or a Master's degree with 4+ years of experience, or a Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of experience.
- Strong technical expertise in at least two areas such as Structural/FEA analysis, Modal & vibration analysis, Thermal engineering, or Fluid flow/CFD.
- Extensive experience with CAD assemblies and detailed drawings.
- Proven track record of taking ownership of sophisticated engineering problems and delivering solutions.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end mechanical design and development from requirements definition through manufacturing release.
- Translate ambiguous or high-level requirements into clear, actionable engineering specifications.
- Perform and guide detailed engineering analyses, including structural analysis, modal and vibration analysis, thermal analysis, and fluid flow modeling.
- Design and optimize systems with a focus on vibration isolation and damping performance.
- Drive concept development, engineering studies, and design decisions, balancing performance, cost, and manufacturability.
- Own subsystem or product-level deliverables, ensuring technical quality, schedule adherence, and accountability.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with systems, manufacturing, suppliers, and service teams.
- Support design reviews, validation, and system integration.
- Lead manufacturing handoff, including documentation, vendor engagement, and issue resolution during builds.
